Hot Wire Ignition Tester

Model 4680

Hot Wire Ignition test is a type of resistance test to fire for plastic

materials. Heating wire is winded around the test sample and the wire

is heated up with an AC-current until it glows to see if the test sample

ignites. Please note that some older standards require the use of DC

current. (See Hot Wire Ignition Tester Model 4610 for DC-current)

Technical specification

• The wire is heated by an adjustable AC power source

• Safety insulating transformer for safe operation

• PLC with time intervals and burning time for sample

• Automatic calculation of W/mm and test current “Ic”

• Automatic calculation of average ignition time

• 10 test results are memorized in the PLC

• Holders for the test sample

• Digital A- and V-meters

• Clips for Voltage measurement at calibration

• Terminals to connect the element wire

• Heating wire 80% Nickel and 20% Chromium – 150 m included

 

 

 

 

 

Optional – Cabinet

• Cabinet 0,5 m3 according to requirement of standard

• Transparent door – access holes to operate without opening the door

• Fan blow out gases from cabinet after testing

 

 

Optional – Winding device

• Helps to wind up the wire onto the test

sample with 6,3 mm pitch

Hot Wire Ignition Tester Operation Manual

 

Wire Winding Frame (figure 1)

1. Wind hot wire on the sample

2. Move the “left and right moving frame” to the appropriate position on the left;

3. Insert one end of the cut and annealed hot wire into the hot wire of the "start locator" to fix it.(Figure 2);

4. Align the right edge of the "start locator" with the left edge of the "hot wire movement guide rod" and lock it.(figure 3)

5. Insert the other end of the hot wire into the small hole of the tension  weights and lock it.(figure 4);

热丝引燃测试绕丝架操作说明

 

绕丝架（图一）

1.将原始试样安装在绕丝架上；

2.将“左右移动架”移动到左边合适的位置；

3.将截取好的、并经过退火处理的热丝一端插入“起始定位器”的热丝固定槽中（如图二）；

4.使“起始定位器”的右边缘与“热丝移动引导杆”的左边缘基本对齐并锁紧（如图三）；

5.将热丝的另一端插入拉力砝码的小孔中，并锁紧（如图四）；

6.顺时针旋转手柄，缠绕规定的圈数。
